Metalanguage, according to Lisa’s Study Guides, is language that analyzes language. She talks about how choices in words can change the meaning and that analyzing texts by authors is an example of metalanguage because by analyzing, one is trying to figure out what the authors purpose is. Metalanguage in this context also stops one from being simple and just statin what happened, it helps develop a sense of how things work and go into play.
According to Fingtam Languages, linguistics is the scientific study of human language. Some branches of linguistics are syntax, semantics, and more. Linguistics are concerned with describing the way language is used by speech (Fingtam Languages). According to Multiliteracies: The Beginning of an Idea, linguistics are intended to focus on representational resources (Cope).
Pedagogy is a method of teaching styles. Multiliteracy pedagogy includes progressive pedagogy, applied learning, traditional pedagogy, and critical pedagogy. Literacy pedagogy according to Multiliteracies: The Beginning of an Idea, is “restricted to formalised, monolingual, monocultural, and rule-governed forms of language”.
